About us
Experienced clinicians who understand your situation.
Founded by Dane Bird and Sarah Dalrymple, we built In Mocean Health to provide professionally qualified and accessible allied health care to all Australians —whether you’re an athlete on the coast, an older adult in a regional area, or someone who simply can’t get to a clinic.
Dane is a Level 2 Sports Physiotherapist who understands how athletes move and recover within their sport. He formerly competed on the WSL QS tour and now works with surfers, board sport athletes, youth and adult sporting populations, DVA, NDIS, aged-care and anyone dealing with an acute or chronic injury — from shoulder, neck and back pain to ankle, knee, and hip problems, vestibular treatment, and pre- and post-surgical recovery.
Sarah is an occupational therapist with more than 12 years of clinical experience, including a key role developing and running a pain management programme at a private hospital. She works with adults and older adults on functional capacity assessments, NDIS applications, report writing, DVA, home modifications, and equipment recommendations — helping people stay independent and safe in their everyday lives.

Move
Exercise & movement
Movement is medicine — but only when it’s the right movement, at the right load, for the right person. Exercise improves circulation, builds tissue resilience, reduces pain, supports mental health, and maintains independence as we age. It’s one of the most evidence-backed tools we have.
We believe in finding the movement that’s appropriate for where you’re at — whether that’s a gentle walk, a progressive strength program, or surf-specific conditioning — and building from there.
Why it matters to us?
Every program we design is built around getting you moving in a way that makes sense for your body and your life. Not a generic sheet. A real plan that fits what you do and where you want to get back to.
Nourish
Diet & nutrition
Food is information for your body. What you eat directly affects inflammation, tissue repair, energy levels, and how well your body tolerates the demands of rehab and daily life. We’re not here to give you a meal plan — but we do ask questions about nutrition because it matters to how you recover.
Poor nutrition slows healing, worsens pain sensitivity, and depletes the energy needed to rebuild strength. Good nutrition does the opposite. Whether you’re an athlete trying to perform at your best or an older adult managing a chronic condition, what’s on your plate is part of the picture.
Why it matters to us?
We want to understand the full context of your health — not just the injury in front of us. Nutrition is one of the most powerful and underused levers in recovery, and we believe you deserve to know that.
Rest
Sleep & recovery
Sleep is when your body does its most important repair work. Muscle tissue rebuilds, the nervous system resets, and inflammatory processes are regulated — all during quality sleep. Consistently poor sleep slows recovery, amplifies pain, and reduces your capacity to respond to treatment.
We see sleep as a clinical variable, not a lifestyle choice. If you’re not sleeping well, it will affect your results — and it’s worth talking about. Rest also means genuine recovery between effort: the space between sessions matters as much as the sessions themselves.
Why it matters to us?
We ask about sleep because it tells us a lot — about your pain, your stress, and your capacity to recover. Addressing sleep is sometimes the most important thing we can do alongside hands-on treatment.
Connect
Social connection
Humans are social by nature, and isolation has measurable effects on physical health — not just mental wellbeing. Loneliness increases inflammation, slows recovery, and makes chronic pain harder to manage. Social connection, on the other hand, supports resilience, motivation, and the sense of purpose that keeps people moving forward.
For older adults, connection is closely tied to independence and quality of life. For athletes, it often means their team, their surf crew, or their training community. For anyone going through a long or difficult recovery, having people around them matters more than most clinical notes acknowledge.
Why it matters to us?
We think about connection when we think about your recovery — who’s around you, what you’re returning to, and what gives your rehab meaning. That context shapes the kind of care we give.

Dane is a level 2 Sports Physiotherapist, a father of two, and a lifelong competitive surfer. Dane Bird: Locum Physiotherapist
Dane is available as a locum physiotherapist for practices, clinics, aged care facilities, and sporting organisations. With Level 2 Sports Physio accreditation and broad clinical experience across musculoskeletal, vestibular, pre- and post-op, and DVA and NDIS caseloads, he can step into most physio roles with minimal handover time.
Sarah Dalrymple: Locum Occupational Therapist
Sarah is available as a locum occupational therapist with more than 12 years of clinical experience — including hospital-based pain management programme development and extensive NDIS and aged care work. She is well placed to manage complex caseloads, functional capacity assessments, and report writing with confidence and efficiency.
Combined team: Locum Physio & OT
For organisations that need both disciplines covered, Dane and Sarah are available as a combined locum team. This is particularly suited to aged care facilities, community health services, and NDIS providers where physio and OT caseloads overlap. Having both clinicians embedded together means continuity of care and genuinely coordinated treatment — not two independent contractors working in parallel.
